Klarna

Klarna is a Swedish fintech company that provides a “Buy Now, Pay Later” (BNPL) payment service. This payment gateway gives users enough time to pay for the product they want to buy but can’t pay for right now. 

This payment gateway offers four payment options, including Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) options:

  • Pay in 3 or 4: Split into 3-4 interest-free installments.
  • Monthly financing: Pay over up to 36 months, with interest.
  • Pay later: Pay in full within 30 days.
  • Pay now: Pay immediately via card, debit, or bank transfer.

FunnelKitPay offers seamless integration with Klarna on a WooCommerce store. 

Requirements

Here are the essentials needed to set up Klarna payments in WooCommerce:

  • Installed and activated FunnelKit Pay
  • Activated Klarna payment option from your Stripe account
  • A valid SSL certificate
  • Store currency in EUR, DKK, GBP, NOK, SEK, USD, CZK, AUD, NZD, CAD, PLN, CHF.
  • Customer’s address in Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, Great Britain, and the USA.

Configuration

Follow the instructions to set up Klarna payments in your store with FunnelKit Pay:

Step 1: Enable the Klarna payment gateway in WooCommerce settings

Navigate to WooCommerce ⇒ Settings ⇒ Payments.

Look for “Klarna – Pay Over Time” and hit the button “Finish Setup” next to it.

Next, check the Enable Klarna Gateway option.

This will enable the Klarna payment gateway on your WooCommerce store. 

Step 2: Configure the Klarna payment gateway

Customize the following options to configure the Klarna payment gateway:

  • Title – Add the title that will be shown on the checkout page for Klarna Gateway. 
  • Description – Enter the description text that appears below the title of the Klarna payment method on the checkout page.
  • Klarna message location – Klarna’s payment options include a customizable message. Choose the specific pages (Product, Cart, or Shop/Category pages) where you’d like the Klarna payment message to appear on your WooCommerce store.
  • Selling location(s): Choose the option “Sell to specific countries”. 
  • Sell to specific countries: Select the specific countries you sell to. 

This is the Klarna message which appears on the pages you specified:

Once done, click on Save Changes.

Well done! You have successfully set up Klarna payments in WooCommerce with FunnelKit Pay – Stripe integration.

Testing

To test the Klarna payment method, put your website in the testing mode from the WooCommerce payment settings.

Note: We recommend using the Test Mode (For administrators) for testing. This enables Test mode for admin users only; other users remain in Live mode.

Now, on the incognito window, go to your store and go to the product page. Then, add the item to your shopping cart and head over to the checkout page:

On the checkout page, choose the option “Klarna – Pay Over Time Klarna” to checkout.

It’ll take you to a Klarna popup window.

Then, we will ask you to provide a number for verification for the first time. 

You can use Stripe’s test data for testing Klarna payment. Stripe provides data for all the countries where Klarna is available. You can use the data for your preferred country.

Now provide a 6-digit code(any six-digit).

After the verification, choose a payment plan from the available options. These payment plans are approved based on your eligibility or purchasing power.

Choose your preferred one and hit Continue.

Then, you will be asked to provide Card details; you can use sample data provided by Klarna

To confirm and pay for the test order, hit Pay with Klarna.

Wait for some time so the process gets completed. 

Purchase almost complete

After you have completed it, you will be redirected to the thank you page.

This is how you can test WooCommerce Klarna payments in your store.

After testing the transaction, change the mode to Live mode.
