Bancontact is a popular online payment method used primarily in Belgium.

As part of the FunnelKit Pay – Stripe integration for WooCommerce, Bancontact offers a secure and easy way for Belgian customers to pay directly from their bank accounts.

Configuration

Follow this guide to set up the Bancontact payment method in your WooCommerce store.

Step 1: Enable Bancontact from your Stripe account

Log in to your Stripe account by entering your credentials. 

Next, click on the Settings (gear icon) on the top right.

Next, click on the Payment methods link from here.

Hit the Edit Settings link.

Turn on the Bancontact payment option for your WooCommerce store.

Step 2: Enable Bancontact from FunnelKit Pay

Navigate to WooCommerce ⇨ Settings ⇨ Payments tab.

Turn on the toggle and click on Finish Setup next to Stripe Bancontact Gateway.

Step 3: Configure Bancontact from FunnelKit Pay

Now configure the Bancontact payment settings in your WooCommerce store:

  • Title: Enter the title, which will appear on your checkout page.
  • Description: The description text appears below the title of the Bancontact payment method on the checkout page.
  • Selling location(s): Select the selling location. If you select the option “Sell to specific countries”, you need to choose the specific country, which would be Belgium.

Click on the ‘Save changes’ button when you’re done.

Testing

On the “Stripe General Settings” tab, set the Mode to ‘Test’.

On the incognito window of your browser, add any product to your cart, and on the checkout page, choose the option “Stripe Bancontact ” to checkout. 

🔔 Make sure to choose your shipping country as Belgium and store currency in EUR. Only then you’ll be able to see Bancontact payment method.

Then, choose your preferred bank and place the order.

You’ll get a Bancontact test payment page because your store is in test mode.

Here, you’ll have two options: Authorize test payment and Fail test payment.

If you choose to authorize test payment, you will be redirected to the thank you page.
